We’re a month and a half into 2012, so it is a little early to state the music trends of the year so far. But after listening to the new self titled LP from Phèdre on repeat for the past 24 hours, I’m going to declare this album the sound of 2012.
In 30 minutes, Daniel Lee and April Aliermo of Hooded Fang along with Airick Woodhead of Doldrums combine to create a lucid sonic attack. The songs combine the catchiness of Hooded Fang songs and throw in the weird electronic experimentation of Doldrums in a way that is danceable and catchy.
It can be confusing. It can be hazy. But it works.
The album is available now on Daps records.
