Joel Plaskett Emergency is releasing a new track every week leading up to the release of Scrappy Happiness on March 27th. This week’s track is “I’m Yours” and is available to stream on CBC Radio 2. In case you were wondering, I have been copy and pasting the first two sentences every week.
This week is the seventh track and sees the band turn the volume down a couple notches after a few electric songs in previous weeks. Like last week, we’re still a little bummed that the recorded studio version does have the same “umph” as the early live versions of these songs (see video below).
By track seven, we’re starting to see some themes emerge. This is starting to feel like a bit of a nostalgic love record, songs titled “I’m Yours” and “You’re Mine”. Singing about love being a lethal weapon and so on. It has been entertaining watching a new record slowly unfold before our eyes.
